Erica Martinez

Hello everyone!


My name is Erica Martinez. I’m currently a grade level counselor here at SMHS. I was a College & Career Counselor the first 2 years.

I was born and raised in Fresno, California. I visit my family in Fresno pretty often and they like to visit me since Santa Maria is so close to the beach.

I attended Fresno State and earned my bachelor’s degree in Criminology with an emphasis on Victimology in 2009. I worked as a Probation Officer for Tulare County until 2014. I went back to school in 2014 to earn my master’s degree in Educational Counseling and my PPS Credential from National University.


In 2016 I moved to the Bay Area to work as a district lead counselor for West Contra Costa Unified School District. I then worked at Middle College High School in San Pablo, California as their only counselor.


I moved to Santa Maria in July 2021 to start this chapter in my life. I’m looking forward to working with students and helping them develop a plan for life after high school.
