ABOUT US

The Santa Maria High School Counseling and Guidance Team welcomes you to the 2024/2025 school year! Our counseling team is dedicated to providing the best services to all of our students.

Our team is made up of eight counselors assigned alphabetically by last name and by grade, a guidance secretary, two guidance technicians, and a College & Career Counselor, and a Wellness Counselor.  Collectively, our counseling and guidance staff will work alongside students and parents to engage students, foster achievement, and inspire excellence throughout their high school years. We look forward to assisting with your student’s academic, personal/social, and college/career needs.

Counseling Vision

Every student at Santa Maria High School is a lifelong learner who determines their own success, and perseveres in college, career, and life. They have the skills to navigate a diverse, ever changing global society while demonstrating social responsibility and cultural awareness.

Counseling Mission

The mission of the Santa Maria High School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven program through collaboration and partnership with students, parents, staff, and community members. By working as professional ethical change agents, we advocate challenging learning experiences for all students and establishing high expectations by promoting literacy, high order thinking, personal accountability, and social responsibility. The Santa Maria High School Counseling Program promotes social justice, equity, and access through a multi-tiered system of support. As a result, students will become culturally aware, productive citizens who achieve college/career success.
